![]() Since January 6th, 2012; the Asheville Police Department has experienced a total of six business break-ins in the downtown area as well as the Merrimon Ave corridor, with similar characteristics. Based on investigation of the incidents, the suspect throws a brick or rock through the front window, then goes after the cash register, tip jar or anything else containing money. The suspect is described as a white male, approx. 5’8” – 5’11”, early 20’s with a thin build, hooded jacket, and baggy pants. The last known incident occurred overnight at the House of Fabric located at 214 Merrimon Ave. Passersby witnessed the incident and followed the suspect to the area of Hillside St. before the suspect again got away. Below is a list of related Break-ins currently under investigation: 1-19-12 House of Fabric/214 Merrimon Ave. 1-19-12 Metro Chinese/956 Merrimon Ave. 1-18-12 Octopus Garden/660 Merrimon Ave. 1-16-12 Wonderland/33 Patton Ave. 1-10-12 Instant Karma/36 N.
