Asheville Parks and Recreation
Asheville Parks and Recreation maintains 54 public parks, 6 miles of greenways, 11 community centers, numerous programs for youth, seniors and outdoor enthusiasts, a comprehensive athletic program and many facilities that provide resources for a range of activities. The department is nationally accredited and a gold medal winner.

YWCA of Asheville
Eliminating racism, empowering women -- it's what the YWCA is about and what it intends to do.  The YWCA of Asheville offers  programs in Aquatics (including swim lessons) and Health and Fitness, as well as child care, after-school, and youth and teens programs.  It is also home to Club W, a health and fitness center offering free weights and weight machines, classes, lap swims, and more.

The American Adventure Service Corps is a year round, non-profit organization for ages 8-18, using outdoor adventure education, service to others and environmental education. For information, call 248-346-3902.

Asheville Lacrosse 
Claiming to have two game seasons a year, these guys never let up! If you want great exercise and good friends, come out to throw the ball with the team.

Asheville Lightning Junior Olympics Team 
This is the premier youth track and field program in the mountains for kids 6-18 and has been in existence since 1990. They have over 20 volunteer coaches and each year host a major track meet for kids at UNCA.

Aston Park Tennis Center 
Aston Park Tennis Center is one of the finest public clay court facilities in the United States. There are 12 lighted clay courts designed and constructed of the Har Tru Fast Dry clay court material. The center is open to the public.

Blue Ridge Bicycle Club 
Whether you ride the parkway or the trails, this club has numerous planned rides with experienced leaders. Asheville has some great places to ride - come learn some new routes with the BRBC.

The Blue Ridge Parkway 
This guide has hundreds of milepost listings, a comprehensive trail index, lots of pictures and historical notes about the parkway.

British Car Club of Western North Carolina This club began in 1994 and has grown to over 60 members who like to share their enthusiasm and favorite car wax formula for their British sports cars.

Centro Esportivo de Capoeira Angola Asheville
We are a nonprofit offering capoeira classes and perfromances to the Asheville community. A free introductory class is held for those interested in this traditional Afro-brazilian martial art every 1st and 3rd sat. Come by to train or just to watch! Performances and workshops available.

Food Lion Skateboarding Park is an outdoor skateboarding park at the corner of Flint and Cherry streets in downtown Asheville. For more information, call 828-225-7184.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development.

The Health Adventure
The Health Adventure is a health and science museum for children and today's families dedicated to improving health awareness, promoting wellness lifestyles, and increasing science literacy through programs and exhibits.

Holler Mountainboard Park
At 45 Huntley Rd., Fletcher is now open. Offers a trampoline, dirt jumps, DBX track, foam pit and the 100-foot rail. For more information, call 877-747-9809.

North Carolina National Forests
Asheville is located just a stone's throw from two beautiful National Forest, Nantahala and Pisgah. For a weekend of hiking or biking, a camping adventure, or a Sunday drive, visit this site for information on what to see and do as well as maps of the forests.

Get out there! A group of local folks encourage you to join them for all types of outdoor activities.

Pack Place Education, Arts and Science Center
Downtown across from Pack Square, Pack Place Education, Arts and Science Center houses Three Centuries of Pack Square, and is the home for the Asheville Art Museum, Diana Wortham Theater, Colburn Gem & Mineral Museum, the Health Adventure and the YMI Cultural Center. Peak Swimming 
Peak Swimming is a totally non-profit team with a non-paid parent run board. Each swim family pays a fee for each swim session for their swimmer or swimmers. The team also allocates scholarships to swimmers according to a percentage of income the team has per session. We are not only a competitive swim team. We offer a swim school, masters swimming, conditioning through swimming or just stroke perfection.

Trout Unlimited Land-of-Sky 
Join this group of anglers and conservationists as they seek to protect area trout and their habitat. There are numerous scenic trout streams in the area; TU members can tell you where to cast your fly!

Warren Wilson College Ultimate Team 
Most people still call it Frisbee, but the Warren Wilson Ultimate Team takes the sport to a new level by competing in competitions across the country. Ultimate Frisbee combines elements of soccer, football and basketball in a fast-paced game, played with a Frisbee, where everyone is a quarterback and everyone is a receiver.

Western Carolina Disc Golf meets at 7:00pm the first Monday of each month. For more information, call 828-296-8775.

Western North Carolina Sierra Club has monthly meetings offering educational speakers. They also have planned some awesome hikes in our beautiful mountains.

WNC Nature Center was voted "best place to take kids" in Western North Carolina; however, old and young alike will enjoy observing the butterfly garden, encountering the red wolf, mountain lions and bobcats, petting the farm animals, and exploring the interactive Nature Lab.

WNC Racing Pigeon Club meets monthly and has two pigeon racing seasons each year.

Zero Gravity Skate Park Indoor park at 1800 Old Hendersonville Highway in Brevard is designed for skateboards inline skates and BMX bikes. For more information, call 828-862-6700.
