thru September 22 - “Biltmore – A Modern Twist” - Asheville photographer Lynne Harty has created a new series of her signature style colorful images, this time for Biltmore, the historic 250-room home and estate of George W. Vanderbilt, which was completed in 1895. In the late 1940s, Sillman studied with Josef Albers at Black Mountain College and continued to work with Albers until the 1970s. Sillman absorbed Albers's approach to color, design, drawing and education over the decades of their work together, bringing Albers's lessons to bear on his own art and teaching. This exhibition features many of Sillman's graceful abstract drawings and watercolors alongside powerful color studies.

September 8 thru October 6 - Bird Watching 101 - Learn how to identify the birds of western North Carolina and have fun doing it. Over the course of five, 1-hour programs, bird expert Jamie Cameron will lead discussions on choosing binoculars, field guides and other birding equipment, as well as the easy steps to identifying birds, birds of the Black Mountain area throughout the season and suggestions on how to make your backyard a bird sanctuary. The last session will be a guided bird hike with Jamie, scheduled to coincide with peak fall migration. There's a morning session at 10 a.m. and an afternoon session at 5 p.m. at the RiverLink office, 170 Lyman Street in the River Arts District of Asheville. The information session will detail RiverLink's volunteer positions in a Powerpoint presentation.
